Finally finished

Everyone who crafts their gifts has had this happen: you are rushing to complete the gift and it just doesn't get done. So you have to decide if you are going to purchase something or simply tell the recipient that you have a gift and will give it to them at a later date. This is what happened with the bridal shower gift. And because I was going to be out of town during the shower for training with my service dog, I was going to have to give it to her later anyway.

The bread cover was from MCG Textiles (found at Joann Fabrics), measuring 18x18", and embroidered with DMC thread in color 310 (black). I chose a simple geometric design to stitch around the edge. I used the black because I am not entirely sure of the bride-to-be's kitchen colors, and I thought black and white would go with most anything.

There are a few imperfections but I feel like I was able to fudge them a little. I even had my sister with the eagle eyes inspect it for mistakes - she only found 1 of the 4 and she is usually very particular! To accompany the bread cover, I included my favorite beer bread and honey butter recipes, printed on free, printable recipe cards from Love vs. Design that you can find here and printed in pale blue cardstock. To finish the gift I just need to find a cute bread basket!

So I'd love some feedback. What do you think? Cute gift? Lame? Tell me your thoughts! I have a feeling I will be needing more bridal shower gifts in the future!

I love this idea for a shower gift. Anything personalized/handmade is a big hit with me. :) I also like giving personalized recipe cards with the bride-to-be's new name. It's often the first thing that she has received that has her married name on it, so it's really special.

Thanks for the comment! I love the idea of personalized recipe cards. I'll have to remember that one! :)
